These terms apply when you use ragakit.com or the RāgāKit app ("RāgāKit"). By using RāgāKit you agree to them. If you don't agree, please don't use it.
What RāgāKit is
RāgāKit is a free tool for exploring Indian ragas and rhythms (taals) and downloading MIDI and audio for your own music. There are no accounts. We may change, add or remove features at any time.
Using the downloads in your music
The MIDI files and audio you download from RāgāKit are royalty-free for your own music: releases, streams, videos, podcasts, film, TV, games and ads. No credit is required, though it is always appreciated. You may not resell or give away the files themselves as a sample, loop or MIDI pack, or use them to build a competing product. The full license is on the How to use page.
Ragas and taals belong to the Indian classical tradition, not to anyone. If you build on a specific existing song or composition, that work's own rights still apply.
The RāgāKit content
The site and app, including their text, design, code and sound design, are made by RāgāKit, except for the parts credited on the How to use page (such as public-domain drum recordings and open-source software under their own licenses). Apart from the music license above, please don't copy or republish them without permission.
Feedback and public comments
- Please be respectful and honest. Don't post anything unlawful, hateful, misleading or that belongs to someone else, and don't share other people's personal information.
- Comments only appear publicly if you ask for that and after we review them. We may edit for length, decline or remove any comment.
- By sending feedback or a comment, you let us use it to improve RāgāKit and, if you chose to show it, to display it with the name you gave.
Accuracy
The information about ragas and taals follows widely taught versions, and traditions and teachers sometimes differ. RāgāKit is a creative and learning tool, not an authoritative reference. Corrections from musicians are always welcome.
No warranty
RāgāKit is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, to the extent the law allows. We don't promise that it will always be available, error-free or suitable for a particular purpose.
Limitation of liability
To the extent the law allows, RāgāKit and its maker are not liable for any indirect, incidental or consequential damages, or for any loss of data, profits or opportunities, arising from your use of RāgāKit. Because RāgāKit is free, our total liability for any claim is limited to US$50. Nothing in these terms limits rights you have under consumer law that cannot be waived.
The iPhone and iPad app
If you use the RāgāKit app, Apple's standard Licensed Application End User License Agreement also applies. Apple is not responsible for RāgāKit or for supporting it.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Tennessee, USA, without regard to its conflict-of-law rules. If you use RāgāKit as a consumer, you keep any protections that the law of the country where you live gives you and that cannot be waived.
Changes
We may update these terms. The date at the top shows the latest version, and continuing to use RāgāKit after a change means you accept it.
