RāgāKit respects the rights of creators. If you believe something on ragakit.com or in the RāgāKit app infringes your copyright, including a comment posted by a visitor, please tell us and we will look into it promptly.
How to send a complaint
Email hello@ragakit.com with the subject "Copyright notice" and include:
- Your name, postal address, phone number and email address.
- A description of the copyrighted work you believe is infringed.
- The exact page address (URL) of the material, and what part of it you believe infringes.
- A statement that you have a good-faith belief that the use is not authorized by the copyright owner, its agent or the law.
- A statement that the information in your notice is accurate and, under penalty of perjury, that you are the owner or are authorized to act for the owner.
- Your physical or electronic signature (typing your full name is fine).
These are the elements required by the US Digital Millennium Copyright Act (17 U.S.C. § 512). Please note that you may be liable for damages if you knowingly misrepresent that material is infringing.
What happens next
We aim to acknowledge notices within 3 business days and to review them within 10 business days. If a notice is valid, we will remove or disable the material and, where a visitor posted it, let them know.
Counter-notice
If your comment was removed and you believe that was a mistake or that you had the right to post it, you can send a counter-notice to the same address with: your name, address, phone and email; the material that was removed and where it appeared; a statement under penalty of perjury that you have a good-faith belief it was removed by mistake or misidentification; a statement that you consent to the jurisdiction of the federal court for your district (or, if you are outside the US, any district where RāgāKit may be found) and will accept service from the person who sent the notice; and your signature. We may restore the material after 10 to 14 business days unless the complainant tells us they have started a court action.
Repeat infringers
If someone repeatedly posts infringing material, we will stop publishing their comments and may block further submissions from them.
A note on traditional music
Ragas and taals are traditional musical frameworks that belong to no one, so scales, rhythm cycles and traditional phrases are not something we can remove as "infringing". If you believe a specific text, recording or original composition of yours appears on RāgāKit, please do write to us.
