Adi tala
The most common tala in Carnatic music: most kritis are set to it
One cycle, one beat per quarter note (4/4), looping on whole bars. Free to use in your releases, royalty-free.
How to count it
- Clap on the first beat of each section.
- Tap your fingers in turn (little, ring, middle) for the counts after a clap.
- Wave the hand, palm up, where the section has one.

Good to know
- Eight beats: a laghu of four (a clap and three finger counts) and two drutams of two (a clap and a wave).
- Its full name is Chaturasra jati Triputa tala.
